Also in 1996, Lyon organised its first Pride March: the July 2026 event will mark the thirtieth edition. The Lyon LGBTI+ Centre, formed from the merger of two Lyon-based federations, now brings together around forty organisations and has been recognised as a public-interest organisation since 2018. On the cultural front, the Écrans Mixtes festival has been celebrating queer cinema every year since 2011.
