Gay nightlife in Nice: bars, clubs and parties

Nice has a small but charming LGBT scene: friendly bars in the narrow streets of Old Nice, two iconic gay clubs and a Mediterranean atmosphere that really comes into its own in the summer. This guide tells you where to go out in gay and LGBTQ+ Nice, with an insider’s itinerary for a great night.

Where can LGBT people go out in Nice?

LGBT nightlife is mainly concentrated in Vieux Nice (the old town), around Place Garibaldi and Cours Saleya, as well as around Port Lympia and the Riquier neighbourhood, historically one of the hubs of Nice’s gay scene. The good news is that everything is within walking distance, with most venues less than ten minutes apart. Ideal for popping into one or two bars before heading to a club.

Bars to start the night

To ease into the night, several gay and gay-friendly bars bring the city centre and Old Nice to life: Le Couloir, La Cave Wilson and Le Swing are often mentioned. With a friendly atmosphere, outdoor terraces and a mixed crowd, this is the perfect time to get a feel for the scene before hitting the dance floor. Find all the venues on our LGBT bars in Nice page.

Gay clubs in Nice

Nice has two leading gay clubs, which complement each other perfectly:

  • Le Glam — the legendary gay nightclub on the Côte d’Azur, with a more down-to-earth and festive atmosphere, featuring drag shows and DJs. (See our page on Le Glam.)
  • L’Oméga Club — 8 Passage Émile Négrin, a venue with more of a ‘club’ vibe, featuring electro/house music, themed parties, drag shows and tea dances.

Insider tip

The best way to spend a night out in Nice? Start at Le Glam, then finish at the Oméga. This way, you can move from the warm, no-frills atmosphere of the former to the more club-like vibe of the latter. It’s the classic friendly night out for visitors, with a great atmosphere and easy encounters as you move from one venue to the next. It’s best to come at the weekend to enjoy the full scene.

When to go out: the best times

Nice’s LGBT scene is at its liveliest from Thursday to Sunday. It really comes alive during Pride Week in July, with an expanded programme, special parties and a unique energy throughout the city. The rest of the year, DJ sets, shows, karaoke and themed parties set the tone for the weekends.

Practical tips

The city centre and Old Nice are very easy to explore on foot. For your return journey at night, consider the tram (in the early evening), night buses or a taxi/private hire vehicle. As always, keep an eye on your belongings and be aware of your surroundings — Nice remains a city where people go out in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
