The Bitch Party’s pop and drag nights

Launched in 2011, the Bitch Party organises queer pop nights in Paris and on tour across several cities in France. The team puts on themed nights dedicated to major figures in international and French-speaking pop, such as Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Charli XCX, Céline Dion and Beyoncé. The line-up consists almost entirely of pop music played all night long, complemented by touches of K-pop and hyperpop.

Drag shows punctuate the events on the raised stage, with regular appearances by drag queens – notably from Drag Race France – to entertain the crowd or perform. The organisers also run associated events such as B•RAVE and the LOUCHE nights with Nicky Doll. The crowd consists mainly of gay men aged 18 to 25, along with women and allies. There’s no dress code: just come as you are.

Good to know

Drag shows usually start between 12.30 am and 1.30 am. Turn up around 12.30 am to get a good spot in front of the stage without having to jostle for hours.

Venues and practical information

The Bitch Party doesn’t have a permanent venue. In Paris, depending on the date, you’ll find it at venues such as La Nuit in the 9th arrondissement, the Virage club in the 17th, or the YOYO beneath the Palais de Tokyo for the XXL events. The atmosphere remains much the same from one venue to the next, but YOYO’s larger space and big stage really amp up the energy. Opening hours are usually from 11 pm or midnight until 6 am.

At the bar, expect to pay an average of €12 for an alcoholic drink and €8 for a soft drink. The cloakroom charge is €2 per item and €4 for bags.

On tour outside Paris

The Bitch Party also takes its themed nights on the road: it has already been held in Lyon at the Prisme Club, in Strasbourg at the Théâtre Quai de Scène and in Nantes. Its regional dates are listed on this page, alongside those for Paris.

Our team's take

On our visits, we found the queue to be moving smoothly and the atmosphere to be good, although security depends on the venue itself rather than the event. There’s a queue at the cloakroom, but it clears quickly (€2 per item, €4 per bag). The music line-up was overwhelmingly pop. The venue mainly attracts gay men aged 18 to 25, along with women and allies, with no specific dress code. At the YOYO, the huge stage amplifies the energy. We recommend arriving around 12.30 am: the drag shows start between 12.30 am and 1.30 am on the raised stage.
