From after-work drinks to large-scale night-time events

Vendredix is shaking up Paris with a series of travelling events designed for a predominantly gay audience aged between 25 and 40, whilst remaining open to straight people. In fine weather, you can enjoy the Vendredix Sur Seine after-work event at the Scilicet on the quayside, a venue accessible to people with reduced mobility. Depending on the date and season, the event also takes place at the Café Fluctuat Nec Mergitur on Place de la République or at other venues such as Bien Public.

To secure a seat and get in without queuing too long at Scilicet or Place de la République, plan to arrive around 8 pm.

Drag cabaret, techno and XXL events

To dance until the early hours, the collective switches to the VendrediXXL format at La Bellevilloise or Wanderlust. These nights are regularly sold out. You can enjoy pop concerts and drag shows between 7 pm and 10 pm, before the DJ sets take over with a mix of pop, house and techno. Please note that the numerous staircases at La Bellevilloise make the venue inaccessible to wheelchair users, and moving between the rooms requires patience when it’s very busy. The venue also features a large playroom, reputed to be the biggest in Paris. A new Saturday night event has recently launched: ÇAM’DI.X at La Rotonde Stalingrad.

If you’re looking for a rawer, darker atmosphere, the DI.X sessions focus on underground techno at Mia Mao or FVTVR. There’s no compulsory dress code, but a kinky style – such as wearing a jockstrap – is strongly recommended. As for drinks and food, expect to pay €10 to €12 for an alcoholic drink, €6 to €8 for a soft drink, and between €6 and €10 at the chips stall.

Our team's take

During our visit, we noticed that the VendrediXXL nights are always sold out: you can be sure you won’t find yourself facing an empty venue. The crowd is overwhelmingly gay, aged between 25 and 40, though the venue is open to straight people too. At La Bellevilloise, shows and concerts liven up the early evening from 7 pm to 10 pm. When it gets very busy, moving between the venues can sometimes be tricky, and the numerous staircases prevent access for wheelchair users. For after-work events at Scilicet or République, we recommend arriving around 8 pm so you can get a seat without having to wait too long.

Whether at the Scilicet on the quayside or at the Café Fluctuat Nec Mergitur on Place de la République, it is advisable to arrive around 8 pm to minimise the queue and make it easier to find a seat.

What are the show times during the VendrediXXL evenings?
