In the Mountains 2026 is a queer and feminist art festival established in Berlin to facilitate professional exchange between artists, curators, and activists from the South Caucasus and the Berlin cultural sector. As the South Caucasus region faces an increasingly restrictive political climate and crackdowns on queer and feminist activists, the festival serves as a vital safe space in exile. It bridges contemporary artistic protest with community healing, allowing marginalized groups to safely network, exchange, and preserve their cultural identity while planning further resistance. PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS: * BERIKA (Central Performance): A queer-feminist reinterpretation of the traditional South Caucasian mask ritual * Music Program: Subcultural electronic music and DJ sets curated in collaboration with regional spaces and collectives * Public Talks: Panel discussions addressing human rights, freedom of speech, and the complex realities of navigating art in exile. * Film Screenings: Spotlighting underground, regional cinema with a focus on urgent queer and feminist issues. * Community & Art Market: An interactive outdoor flea market and cultural information tables. * workshops: curated number of knowledge sharing run by community members. * Book presentations: Regional focused book presentations * Exhibitions and installations.
